Suitcase Circus is a highly unlikely miniature circus performed from behind a jacket and hosted by a threadbare ringmaster's sock.
…an extravaganza of excessively gifted everyday objects, with a continuously changing line up which may include; Madame Teapot the fabulous singing teapot, Sacrobatic Acrosac billed as the world's premier acrobatic potato sack, a too tightly tied hypnotic snake tie Windsor Knott, Limbardo the half-pint acrobat, an incredulous dancing milkshake straw and then the finale; Dan der Uras the greatest dare devil ski glove on Earth and much much more.
As with all quality circuses we have a wonderfully weird and bizarre musical accompaniment to our peculiar extravaganza.
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the utter object madness, which is Suitcase Circus.
Suitcase Circus has featured in major festivals in the UK and Europe.
It has happened inside a steamy inflatable venue at the Brighton Fringe, a gorgeous little circus tent for Tingeltangel Festival in Berlin, at Fusion Festival we were in a glitzed up soviet era airplane hanger and in wonderful Mexico amongst the trees within a fantastic big-top.
A regular feature of festivals in New Zealand and Australia including the Wellington Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Puppet Carnival.
Suitcase Circus has worked alongside Bristol’s marvellous Invisible Circus and the extraordinary Snuff puppets in Melbourne.

Oliver Smart is a New Zealand puppeteer/puppet maker, now living in the UK. He has worked extensively with puppets in theatre, cabaret, circus, film and television.
His particular fascination is with the rendering of character through the simple combination of evocative objects and natural movements.
Matt Short’s professional music career began over a decade ago, playing beautiful acoustic guitar as a solo artist and within numerous bands. He is a devisor and composer for theatre and film. Matt studied composition at Trinity College, London and is currently shortlisted to compose a soundtrack for the BBC Discovery Channel.
Suitcase Circus is best experienced as a duo performance by the puppeteer and musician. The show may also be performed as a solo act in the tradition of a one-man-band.
